"Elia and Betsabea Faccini are young musicians gifted with exceptional musical and technical talent. In their hands, the piano is enrichened by a thousand sounds and nuances, expressing tenderness, rage, joy, abandonment. In the Six Morceaux Morceaux op.11 by S. Rachmaninov (1894) the Duo reveals phantasmagorical sounds and musical visions, gentle pianissimi in the Barcarolle and in the Romance, subtle wittiness in the Scherzo, enveloping softness in the Valse, robust, heavy, even metallic sounds in the Theme Russe and Slave. Equally enchanting are the performances of the transcriptions, written by the Duo itself, of the Pas de Deux from “The Nutcracker” by P. I. Tchaikowsky (1891-92) and of the Polovtsian Dances from “Prince Igor’”, A. Borodin (1879). As a conclusion to the programme, a superb masterpiece, Rapsodie Espagnole op.54 by M. Ravel (1907-08) of which there is also a version for orchestra. The Faccini Piano Duo offered a perfect interpretation, balancing both virtuosity and cantability, poetic abandonment and fast-paced dance rhythms."
